Job Description: Forensic Computer Analyst
Position Overview:
The Forensic Computer Analyst is a vital member of our cybersecurity team, responsible for conducting in-depth investigations and providing expert analysis on digital evidence related to cybercrimes and security breaches. This role requires exceptional technical skills, a deep understanding of computer systems, and advanced knowledge of forensic tools and techniques. The Forensic Computer Analyst will work closely with law enforcement agencies, internal stakeholders, and external partners to gather evidence, perform data recovery, and deliver comprehensive reports.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations into cybercrimes, security breaches, and incidents, ensuring the preservation and analysis of digital evidence.
- Employ advanced forensic tools and methodologies to extract, analyze, and interpret data from various digital devices, such as computers, mobile phones, servers, and other electronic storage media.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, legal teams, and other relevant parties to effectively manage and support investigations.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for data acquisition, preservation, and analysis, ensuring adherence to legal and industry requirements.
- Identify and assess potential risks and vulnerabilities in computer systems, networks, and digital infrastructure, providing recommendations for enhancing cybersecurity measures.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and tools in digital forensics and cybersecurity, continuously enhancing professional knowledge and skills.
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and comprehensive reports on findings, analysis, and recommendations, presenting complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide expert testimony and support during legal proceedings, including court appearances, when required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Forensic Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience (X years) as a Forensic Computer Analyst or similar role, preferably in a law enforcement or cybersecurity organization.
- Extensive knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, network protocols, and digital storage technologies.
- Strong understanding of digital forensic techniques, including evidence acquisition, preservation, and analysis.
- Proficiency in using forensic software and tools, such as EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, X-Ways, and open-source tools like Autopsy and Volatility.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to digital evidence and chain of custody.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and provide accurate and timely responses in high-pressure situations.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring meticulous documentation and reporting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional certifications related to digital forensics and cybersecurity, such as Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent, are highly desirable.
